Before I get into my 2 new summer essentials I would like to apologize for being MIA for a very long time. I have so many ideas for my blog and personal projects but with working at Dior 4/week, volunteering at Hospitals, shadowing doctors, traveling and studying for multiple summer classes, I have been overwhelmed this summer and have not had a chance to talk to you! I hope you have had a wonderful summer so far and enjoying it with the people you love!
Now, on to some summer skin essentials!
I love Dior skincare. As a makeup artist and skin specialist for their brand, I can stand by their products and I absolutely adore each and every one of them. However, I like to search for other brands and try new things and venture out! I discovered Valentia on Amazon about a year ago and I fell in love with their products. What initially got me hooked onto their brand was their AMAZING Vitamin C serum! If you suffer from dullness, scarring, and want to brighten and smooth your skin, this product is a definite MUST HAVE in your skin care routine!
Valentia recently caught my attention with two new products that I absolutely love to use and found very beneficial for the summer time. It's their Vitamin C Clear Lift Revitalizing Serum and their Detoxifying Clay Mask.
Now, let me tell you why I love Valentia skin care products. Firstly, the packaging on their products is so beautiful and elegant. I loved how the Vitamin C serum was in a glass bottle with a dropper, similar to the ones I use in Chemistry lab. I love how their packages are adorned with their white and gold labels, I feel so beautiful using them. The Vitamin C Clear Lift Revitalizing Serum is in the same quality glass bottle but has a pump for accurate measurement of product which is very helpful. I am not a fan of products you have to squeeze or pour out so I love how this comes with a pump for your convenience. The clay mask is in an easy to use plastic pot which holds the goodness inside very well, I do recommend using a spatula or spoon every time you want to use the product for hygienic reasons. I LOVE how Valentia is VEGAN, CRUELTY FREE, MADE IN THE USA, and USES ALL NATURAL INGREDIENTS.
I am so sorry I cannot provide pictures this time of swatches of the product because I recently upgraded my iPhone and was forgot to send those pictures myself to save. I finished the products and have the empty containers left but that would be of no use to you! Let's start with the Clear Lift Revitalizing Serum. I cannot stand products with an overwhelming smell, it's a turn off, and makes me want to never use it. This product has a light lingering smell of oranges, similar to the Vitamin C serum. Personally I love it and it is not an offensive smell that will bother you. I love to use this at night before my moisturizer so it can seep into my skin and provide me with all the benefits! I definitely noticed a difference in the texture and tone of my skin. My acne scars (which I owe to the copious amounts of stress I undergo because of college) have definitely disappeared, if not, faded. I prefer applying it to my décolletage region and working my way up onto the surface of my face. I read online that women in their early 20s should use natural anti-aging products that aren't too heavy to slow down the aging process. I guess I differ from many 19 year olds because of the amount of effort I put into the care of my skin. It may be because I am an aspiring dermatologist, or because I do not want to deal with wrinkles and sun spots in the future, but I take care of my skin and use light anti-aging products because I feel like it will benefit my skin in the days to come. This product did not break me out, I did not feel like it was oily or drying to my skin, and I definitely have seen a positive change to my skin in terms of brightness and clarity. Now, I cannot testify to the reduction of lines and wrinkles because I currently do not have any, but I definitely think if you are looking for a less harsh, more natural way to reverse the signs of aging this product would do you justice! This product made it to my summer essentials because it is going to help lighten scarring and potentially brown spots, and give you radiant and glowing skin. I think this is important because the sun is exerting UVA and UVB rays that can harm your skin so having a serum to eliminate the potential negative side effects is important. I highly recommend the Neutrogena Pure and Free Broad Spectrum SPF 60+ Sun Screen for the day time to block those harmful rays that can cause sometimes serious side effects to your skin. It has "all natural" ingredients and does not contain oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate, or octinoxate which are harmful chemicals found in most sunscreens. This sunscreen I believe is meant for babies (gentle!) and is a mineral sunscreen, thus containing Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide.
The Skin Detoxifying mask is another one of summer essentials for the reason that it "detoxifies" your skin! During the summer, my skin is a wet mess, an unpleasant combination of sweat and oil. My acne is usually at an all time high during this season because of how congested and clogged my pores get. I use this mask about 1x a week and have noticed a dramatic change in my skin in terms of clearness. I rarely have acne because this mask draws out impurities with the clay and leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed. There are little beads inside that help exfoliate the skin when applying to dive deep into your pores. There are a lot of benefits from this mask but the number one thing I found is that it helps keep my skin clear but also firm and aids in the luminosity of my skin. I feel like the texture is very smooth and it is a surreal spa like experience at your own home! This is a staple for those who want to keep your skin healthy and glowing in the summer time but don't want to throw away hundreds of dollars at the spa for facials. The only negative thing I can say about this mask, however, is that it does slightly sting. It is not painful but it is stingy, I know that isn't a word but it is the only way I can describe the sensation. You can really feel it working, if you want to think of it on a positive note. It does have a powerful scent which at first frightened me because I thought I was going to break out because of an artificial fragrance but I realized it was the cranberry, and the other ingredients inside of it to cause it to have that particular scent. I feel like this is the best "bang for your buck" mask because of all the beneficial skin claims it contains and for the large jar you receive.I really want you to try both of these products because I think you will benefit positively from them. Even though they are my summer skin care essentials, they will be just as valuable for you skin in the fall and winter months to come.
